Well, this Humpty Dumpty didn't sit on a wall... she just went running through the house and slipped on the 3x3 piece of wood floor in front of the front door!
My poor little Rebecca had her 2nd visit to the ER... other than Andy, she is the ONLY one to ever go to the ER... and he hasn't been since Rebecca was born!
This was the NP at the ER. He felt so bad for Rebecca. He tried EVERYTHING he could to make her like him. She screamed every time he tried to touch her. She wanted NOTHING to do with this balloon.
They took a lot of X-Rays, and all they could come up with was that she had Nursemaid's Elbow. It's kinda hard to explain, but it pretty much means that her Radial bone was dislocated. He couldn't reduce it (get it to go back in place) because her arm was too swollen... but believe me when I say HE TRIED!
Being a LEFTY didn't slow her down at all... and YES, I took these at church!

So, 2 days later (it happened on Saturday), we went into our Pediatric Doctor, only to be sent to a Orthopedic Doctor. Our normal doctor said she wouldn't touch Rebecca because she was worried about the growth plates... well, since she wouldn't even touch her don't you think I should get my 25 BUCKS back. I don't mind paying a co-pay, but when the Doctor won't even touch her that's a little ridiculous!
So, at the Orthopedic Doctor. He tried to get it to move, and he said it didn't even feel like it was out. So, he took a closer look at the X-Rays that the ER took. He and the other Ortho Dr. in his office said that it looked like it might have a SMALL hairline fracture. They could see the shadow that a fracture casts, but the couldn't see the fracture. So, they put her arm in a splint and said they would take another X-Ray in 4 days (one week from the fall) to see if they could see a Callus starting to form. So, off we went on our way to come back in 4 days
This was the day she got her splint. She didn't want anything to do with me taking her picture, so these are what you get!
Well, after going back to the doctor 4 days later, and getting another set of X-Rays, the doctor still couldn't see the Fracture, or the Callus. So, we took off her split to see how she would react to it. It wasn't swollen anymore, and she would move it... even though she said it still hurt, it didn't hurt her to move it. So, he said, maybe it really was the nursemaid's elbow and it could have gone back in before we came in and was just really swollen still? Who knows!?!
He sent us on our way again, with the splint in-case she favored the arm too much and started complaining that it hurt still or if it started swelling again. This time we went back in 5 days to see how it was.
She was so cute, the first few days, she would be doing something using her arm and if you asked her if her arm felt better, she would hold her arm tight to her stomach and say it still hurt! So, when it came time to go back to the doctor Rebecca was using her arm just fine, and I almost didn't go in. I probably shouldn't have either. This time he didn't even touch her. He just saw that she was moving her arm just fine with no complaints and said that it was fine! Maybe I should have been a doctor! HA HA HA!
We are just glad that she is back to normal, although, it was nice having her be too afraid of hurting her arm to move; we had a whole week of a nice quiet Rebecca!
