On Tuesday they got the cement poured out our bedroom door so we can move the hot tub... that is if I don't change my mind of where I want to put it! Andy and his dad worked from 4 to about 7 on it (with a break for dinner). Even Uncle Al came by to help! It was a lot of fun... we learned why Al always got in trouble when he was little and they were pouring cement... he goes a little crazy with the water! Andy said that I took the place of Grandpa Summers asking all the questions and making sure they were doing it right! I tell ya, it's intuition!
The first dump of the evening... about 20 or so more to follow!
They had to screet it about every foot or two so that it didn't set up uneven.
Rachel helped me supervise while playing with all of her buckets and shovels!
Uncle Al decided to jump in and help,he had a hard time counting to 16 though... maybe he has been living in Pima too long, or he did go to school in St. David?
The finish work... yeah, we're almost done!
Even Anthony and Vinette stopped by to help me with the supervising!
And Grandpa let Rachel have a turn with the edger... she thought she was pretty cool because she FINALLY got to help!
Wednesday Dad spent all day up in the attic. We had never finished the insulation up there, and Andy decided it was about time we did it. We had about 6 bags of fiberglass left over from the walls that needed spread out and then we needed to put down the cat-walk and spray in the insulation. Dad worked really hard ALL day up there and got everything done. When he went to get Andy from work they decided it needed another layer so they stopped and got more insulation. It went a lot faster having Andy feed the insulation in while Dad was blowing it in (he had to come down after each bag and when it got jammed when Andy was at work). We decided to turn off the A/C on Thursday just to see what the temperature in the house would do, we usually have it set where the A/C comes on at 74 and the Heat comes on at 71 (it had been kicking on quite a bit during the day and the heater would kick on at night). It was at 72 when I turned it off at about 11:30, and it slowly climbed up to 76 at about 5:30! That night was really good too, when I woke up at 5 it was down to 72 and at 6:30 when Rachel woke up it was at 71! So, we have decided to just keep it off while it is still cool outside, and it hasn't gone above 75 again or dropped below 71! I am so excited to see what this is going to do to our utility bill! They haven't ever been that bad, but it will be great this summer not having the A/C running ALL day long like it has the past 3 summers!
Dad said he looked like an oompa loompa... I think he could have pulled it off if he were 3 feet shorter!
This is some nasty stuff... at least it isn't fiberglass though!
Dad is somewhere way in the back... starting the second layer!

Horray... we're done!
Thanks Dad for coming and helping us get some projects finished! Maybe next time Andy will just let you relax!

mark and i have just been starring at your blog talking about how cool it is that you guys do everything yourselves...you know how to do everything:) can't wait to come up and use that hot tub...i just found pictures last week of us in that hot tub when i think we were 15 or 16 actually maybe even younger funny stuff!

Well Emma it defentiley looks like you keep the man of the house busy! Good job! This weather is so crazy, I am constantly turning the AC off at night and then back on during the day! I've tried keeping it off, but get so dang hot..good luck with keeping it off!
